Hi,it’s me again, back!
Last week I watched the movie water for elephant .. after watching the movie I went out wondering about 2 things;
1- Was that the same elephant in eat pray love movie .. & if so, how many coming “elephant movies” are we expecting !
2- Let’s take a look at some scenes & characters in the movie,
· August: how cruel that man is, how brutal, & what a merciless exploiter ! how he unfairly & inhumanely treated his workers.. using them to the most & not paying them their wages, & whoever he sees useless is simply thrown off the train !!
How this stone hearted man insisted on forcing a sick horse that had a problem in his leg that it would be suffering pain in every move just because he had no substitute & the show must go on!
· Marlena: why did she gave herself up to such a man just cause he feeds her & taught her a profession ! couldn’t she realize _on her own without Jacob – that she was wasting her life & burying her youth, by giving up her freedom, free will & the power to stand up for the mercy & love in her heart !!
For what? Just because she had nowhere else to go !!
Is that a good reason to give up your soul & your will & pride & power & talent willingly !!?
· The thought of having someone who controls in such arrogance & sadism .. thinking that he owns her & that he made her.. & that she’s nothing without him & that he’s the law .. he’s the one who rules & always should be obeyed cause he simply knows it all & he’s never wrong !!
· The thought that Marlena & those workers agreed to August & gave in to him just because they needed him & had nowhere else to go .. could that be an excuse !
Actually, some of them was so ok with August attitudes & styles in running the circus just because it’s going on !
· The thought that THE SHOW MUST GO ON !! is it worth it .. is it worth all this injustice & violations, & damage to souls & pride !
· The thought that some business owners insist on using & sucking every worker & every resource to the bone , paying no care to their human & workers rights, curves & nature !
Though the events of this movie take place in the thirties of the past century, but i felt that this business school & style of AUGUST is adobted in many corporations/employers , & that Marelna style & attitude is adobted too by many employees !
People makes dictators & tyrants by their silence & compliance.. & by taking oppression as a normal or necessary thing!!!
